What a way to start off the season – with exact 11 players down on the field, we were looking pretty shaky at start, when we found out we had no substitutions and our Goal Keeper was away. Credits to Gakul Dai and Saurav for taking the keeper’s role in turns.

Goals came from both teams in turns, but we managed to wrap up the game with Gakul Dai’s spectacular volley from Sunil’s cross. Final score was 3-2 in our favour (Manish – 2 goals and Gakul Dai – 1 goal). Though our game-play lacked confidence it’s always great to start the season with a win. Fellas, because the game can get pretty physical every now and then, I’d suggest try keeping fit during the week to avoid any injuries – do some sort of physical activity 30 minutes  everyday.

With Manish already leading the golden boot ladder (2 goals), this season, we hope they’ll be more goal scorers keeping Manish on his toes from reclaiming the golden boot award at the end of season.

Our next match should be against the Malaysian Team this Sunday. I’m waiting for Julio (League Representative) to send me an email with the fixture time just to be sure. Please come back and check fixture time on website by Friday.

The Southside Football League have been pushed back until 16th of April 2010.7 teams have signed up to the league this year with last league rounds to be played by the 5th of September with finals to follow.

There have been discussions about violence on the field. Any players conducting any of violence on the field, can result in banning the entire team permanently from the League.

It’s sad to see our some of our experienced players not participating this season, however we’ve got most players returning, and also new talent on board - we’ve got a good line-up this season, so let’s replay some beautiful football this season. As usual, we’ll need to make payment for registration (needs to be paid by 15th of April):

The friendly match against local Brisbane Malaysia team kicked off at around 3:30pm. With exact 11 players turning up for the game, we got our opponents to lend us one of their strikers in the game.

The final score was 3 -0. Great skills and movement by our team. We need to work on our stamina though. Spare about 30 minutes a day running around. Our league starts next week and it’s time to start reserving our spot for the finals.

The friendly match against the Brisbane Malaysian Football team kicked off at around 4:00pm, yesterday. Our opponents scored the first goal followed by a goal from our ace striker, Manish. However our opponent managed to squeeze another goal making the final score 2-1 in their favour.

It seems our players are still in a holiday mood. Our league will be starting in a couple of weeks, hopefully we can get our spirits back by then. Any new footballers interested to participate, please email at management@gurkhafc.com.

A friendly match against a Brisbane Malaysian Team is scheduled for the 7th of March (3:30pm). Match will be played at the End of Langley Avenue/End of Murray street, New Market (it’s about 5 minutes walk from the Wilson train station).

Match against a Vietnamese team is confirmed for 21 February (Sunday) at 3:00pm.

Venue: Munro Street/Park. St Lucia.

Matches against Yeti FC is now confirmed and scheduled for 7th February.
