Here’s a quick update about our result from the  last match and the upcoming fixture.

The final result from last weekends Gurkha F.C. vs. Malaysian team match was  a 1-4 loss. Hopefully we can improve on that in our next fixture which will be on this Friday the 13th ( Uh Oh!) 7:00pm at Annerley, on the corner of  Ridge St and Barnsdale Place. Please try and get to the field by 6:30pm so we can get organized and take some team photos, other than that I hope to see you guys there, bye.

• Sunday will be qualifying.

NO TAKEAWAY FOOD ALLOWED:

As Moreton Bay Sports Club has generously offered the venue for FREE, there will be NO takeaway food allowed to be brought into the venue. Moreton Bay Sports Club will have a canteen operating over the two days.

FINALS [FOUR GRAND FINALS] & PRIZES:

The top TWO teams from each group will go through to the quarter finals on the Monday.
There will be TWO grand finals [Premier & Division 1].

NON- ALCOHOL

This is a NON ALCOHOL sporting/community event.

Police will patrol the inner and outer location and Police Liaison officers are rostered at this event.

Any PERSON located with ALCOHOL will be removed from the ground. Any TEAM located with ALCOHOL will be disqualified.

START TIMES

All games STRICTLY Kick-off ON TIME.

Games will start even if there are NOT enough players on the park at the time.

Referees have been instructed games will commence on time of k/o.

NO APOLOGIES will be accepted for late team arrivals.

FIRST AID:

St Johns Ambulance will attend, however each team must have own FIRST AID kit.

DRESSING ROOMS

There will be 8 dressing rooms available for use at Moreton Bay Sports Club.The Dressing room will NOT be locked.

Players are requested to change and take all personal property out of dressing room.

QPS/ Moreton Bay Sports Club will NOT be held responsible for any property left INSIDE the dressing rooms.

Monday      May 3              10.00am – 5.00pm

• Monday 3^rd May will be the FINALS FOOTBALL.
• We will have 4 fields going at ONE time.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

• Games will consist of two 20 minute halves with no time added and a 5 MIN half time break (drink) = 45 minute game.
• There will be UNLIMITED interchanges.
• Quarter Finals: In the event of a draw then penalties will decide the winner.
• Semi Finals: In the event of a draw then penalties will decide the winner.
• GRAND FINAL – In the event of a draw then penalties will decide the winner
• Penalties APPLY for red card sanctions. (Player will miss following game).

The fixture against the Malaysian team this Sunday has been cancelled due to unavailability of the field. We’ll probably have this game towards the end of the league season or one weekend when both team are available later on.

Don’t worry there’s still plenty of football to be played over this long weekend – our usual social football will take place at Newmarket and East Brisbane (Saturday).  Also, there’s our traditional Nepalese Football Suburb Cup on ANZAC Day (Monday). Details are as follows:

ANZAC FAMILY DAY 2010

(Soccer match, volley ball match, fun games, sausage sizzles and drinks)
Venue : New Farm Park, New Farm  (corner of Brunswick St and Sydney St)
Date : 26^th April 2010
Time : 8:00am

What a way to start off the season – with exact 11 players down on the field, we were looking pretty shaky at start, when we found out we had no substitutions and our Goal Keeper was away. Credits to Gakul Dai and Saurav for taking the keeper’s role in turns.

Goals came from both teams in turns, but we managed to wrap up the game with Gakul Dai’s spectacular volley from Sunil’s cross. Final score was 3-2 in our favour (Manish – 2 goals and Gakul Dai – 1 goal). Though our game-play lacked confidence it’s always great to start the season with a win. Fellas, because the game can get pretty physical every now and then, I’d suggest try keeping fit during the week to avoid any injuries – do some sort of physical activity 30 minutes  everyday.

With Manish already leading the golden boot ladder (2 goals), this season, we hope they’ll be more goal scorers keeping Manish on his toes from reclaiming the golden boot award at the end of season.

Our next match should be against the Malaysian Team this Sunday. I’m waiting for Julio (League Representative) to send me an email with the fixture time just to be sure. Please come back and check fixture time on website by Friday.

The 2009 Confederation cup was pretty entertaining I thought. The time difference was definitely a killer factor as many 4:30am games had to be left unwatched. Nevertheless, I feel the most entertaining match in the Confederation cup was between Brazil vs Egypt. Check out the highlights below!
