We forfeit the match against FC MTS due to insufficient players at kick off. This Sunday, we’ve been invited to participate in the World Refugee Day Football Tournament. Our fixture in the El Salvador League is postponed.

World Refugee Day Football Tournament Rules

1. TEAM SHEETS

ALL participating players must sign team sheet.

Team sheet MUST be given to QPS [VIP] Lusene Kesselly

You will not be allowed to play unless we have a SIGNED team sheet.

2. NO TAKEAWAY FOOD ALLOWED:

As Moreton Bay Sports Club has generously offered the venue for FREE, there will be NO takeaway food allowed to be brought into the venue. Moreton Bay Sports Club will have a canteen operating over the two days.

3. FINALS:

The top TWO teams from each group will go through to the quarter finals on World Refugee Day festival on Sunday 27^th June 2010.
There will be TWO grand finals [Premier & Division 1].

4. NON- ALCOHOL

This is a NON ALCOHOL sporting/community event.

Police will patrol the inner and outer location and Police Liaison officers are rostered at this event.

Any PERSON located with ALCOHOL will be removed from the ground. Any TEAM located with ALCOHOL will be disqualified.

5. START TIMES

All games STRICTLY Kick-off ON TIME.

Referees have been instructed games will commence on time of k/o.

NO APOLOGIES will be accepted for late team arrivals.

6. FIRST AID:

St Johns Ambulance will attend, however each team must have own FIRST AID kit.

7. DRESSING ROOMS

There will be 8 dressing rooms available for use at Moreton Bay Sports Club.

The Dressing room will NOT be locked.

Players are requested to change and take all personal property out of dressing room.

QPS/ Moreton Bay Sports Club will NOT be held responsible for any property left INSIDE the dressing rooms.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Ø Games will consist of two 20 minute halves with no time added and a 5 MIN half time break (drink) = 45 minute game.

Ø There will be UNLIMITED interchanges.

Ø Quarter Finals: In the event of a draw then penalties will decide the winner.

Ø Semi Finals: In the event of a draw then penalties will decide the winner.

Ø GRAND FINAL - In the event of a draw then penalties will decide the winner

Ø Penalties APPLY for red card sanctions. (Player will miss following game).

First of all, many thanks to Craig for organizing the dinner last Friday. It was good to get together with most players other than on the field. We look forward to more events. If you have any ideas please feel free to share.

Yesterday’s game, as usual, we never had a 11 man squad at kick off. Though this didn’t make a difference at start, players were easily exhausted later on. Our opponents scored the first goal followed with an equalizer by our key striker – Manish.  They somehow managed to squeeze the ball pass our defense line which put the game in their favour (2-1). I noticed whenever there’s a stir of brawl, it diverts most players focus away from football, and this ‘always’ results in losing the game. So, if you think about it, this only benefits our opponents.

It’s OK to have these brawls, it happens in football, but lets not get carried away with it. After all we want to win the game, don’t we? So let’s piss our opponents off with our football skills and techniques – agility, possession, passing and scoring.

All our players are talented and have improved tremendously over the past few months and years. With new players on board, it only betters our team. But for some reason, we never seem to play football as a team, and this has been happening lately in our last games. We need to step up ‘now’ if we want to get into the finals. Lets get the ball, keep it and pass more – no point being shy on the field.

From now on, lets not focus on winning the game, but thrashing our opponents with endless goals. And for this to happen, all 11 players on the field need to try and play their best. Let’s keep the Gurkha spirit up!

Most of the players are meeting up this Friday at Tibetan Kitchen West End, 7:00pm (21st May) for dinner. It’s a family event so please feel free to come along and mingle with the team. For reservations please contact Craig.

With only 10 players from our side at kick off, we held the Latin Golden Boys off our D area throughout the first half of the game. They, however, managed to score the first goal of the game, followed with an excellent equalizer – a cross from Gakul Dai to Manish, who headed the ball to goal.

The first half ended in a 1-1 draw. In the second half, our opponents seem to dominate the game, resulting the final score at 4 – 1.

There’s no game this weekend. See you next week!
